At first this movie looked incredible and I was super pumped to see it. Then I thought a little more about what worldview it was presenting and I looked a little more into "The Machine Gun Preacher." Now I'm not so sure. I just can't support the use of guns and violence, even in response to violence (see my post from Bonhoeffer a few days back).

Check out the actual story for yourself at Sam's website and let me know what you think.

  1. Unfortunately Sam's website isn't working for me right now, so I can't read the link you sent. I will however agree with you that it's interesting to respond with violence. At one point in history God told Israel to destroy those in the land He was going to give them. However, with Jesus in the picture, we don't have to do it and shouldn't. He did not commit any violence, and neither should we.

I wonder what his book (Another Man's War) is like. I also so this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_Q3xz1DbRk) and he very much sounds like he's trying to give God the glory in what he's done. I think God is making good out of his actions for sure, but is it the right thing for him to do? I'm not sure, but I wouldn't do it.
